Fruit to help Gout

Keep your body alkaline!

"Sonny, I tell you what does that mean?" Grandma gasped when her friend at the raw juice bar told her she's acidic.

"Eat food that is alkaline and not acidic and you will stay healthy." He told her as he did not want her to suffer from gout like his grandmother did. The wise nutritionist went on the explain what #gout was and a few tips.

Gout is a complex form of arthritis and is characterized by sudden and severe attacks of pain, redness, tenderness and swelling the in joints, often the joint at the base of the big toe (approximately 50% of cases). Other joints, such as the heels, knees, wrists and fingers, may also be affected. Gout is caused by high levels of uric acid in the blood. The uric acid crystallizes, and the crystals deposit in joints, causing a lot of pain and inflammation. Men are more likely to get gout, but women become increasingly vulnerable to gout after menopause.

It has been known since the 1950s that #cherries reduce gout pain, but there was no scientific explanation for it. But recent studies have found that eating about 30 pieces of cherries within 48 hours of a gout attack may cut the risk of recurrence of gout pain significantly.

The secret behind cherries and cherry juice is compound called #anthocyanins. Anthocyanins are an #antioxidant pigment found in cherries and other red and purple fruits and vegetables, and they are the key to relieve gout inflammation. Researches believe that the anthocyanines in cherries decrease the uric acid, therefore less crystals and less pain. The anthocyanines produce a similar effect of pain relief like commercial drugs, but with no side effects that are associated with some of these drugs. :) A smart and wise choice. Prescription doesn't have to mean take something in a little bottle with a push down top.
#Cherries (and #raspberries) have the highest content of anthocyanins.

It is wise to avoid sugar sweetened soft drinks and to reduce sugar consumption, especially fructose.
Remember acidic food & drinks =pain.
#Alkaline food & drinks =good health, joy & happiness!!!
